Plant in a bottle is a great way to help the earth, even if you're too busy to care for a plant a lot. This project is very simple and uses RECYCLED materials.
What you need:
Soil (nutrient rich is great)
A plastic bottle (Like a soda bottle)
Scissors
A seed (You could put in pieces of strawberries if you want)
The cap to the bottle
Water
A window that gets sunlight
1: Cut the top off the plastic bottle (the part that is slanted toward the cap).
2: Scoop soil in to the bottom.
3: Dampen the soil. Don't soak it, that is bad for the seed.
4: Put the seed in the soil according to what the package, or the internet, says about that seed for depth.
5: Put the top you cut off on to the top of the soil bottle.
6: Put the cap on top but do NOT screw the lid on, the plant needs a bit of air.
PRESTO! Just wait for the plan to grow.
This is awesome because you barely have to water it. The plastic acts as a mini green house for the water vapor, thus watering its self (kind of...). It recycles a bottle, thus reducing the garbage in our landfills. It also recycles water, which makes it easy to take care of.
